How to Make Compost

* Chop all the vegetation being used into very small pieces.

    * Mix equal parts of vegetation with equal parts of fresh farmyard manure.
    * Pile the mixture into a heap measuring 3ft × 3ft × 3ft.

    * Cover the heap with banana leaves or old burlap sacks.

    * By the third or fourth day, the inside of the heap should be heating up quite nicely. If you find that the pile is not heating up mix more manure into it.

    * On the same day turn the compost heap so that the material from the center is now on the outside.

    * Turn the heap every two days after that.

    * In 14 - 18 days, the compost should be ready for use.

Liquid Fertilizer from Comfrey and Nettles

Not only do nettles make a good fertilizer but another equally good plant is comfrey. It can be used in exactly the same way as the weeds. Some people like to get technical and tell you how many kilos of comfrey you need to so many gallons of water. But you don't need to be that technical. Just throw the comfrey into your bucket, fill it up with water and leave it for 4 weeks. Again dilute it before you use it.
